
Chicken Bao Recipe / How to make delicious chicken Bao

Today I will share step by step How to make delicious chicken Bao / Chicken Bao Recipe, which originated in Northern China. Chicken Bao is a type of filled bun or bread-like dumpling that originates from Chinese cuisine.
Equipment required
- Mixing Bowl
- Parchment paper
- Momo steamer
- Frying pan
- Spatula
Ingredients
- Yeast-1 tbsp
- Chicken chunks-250 gm
- Sugar-1/2 tbsp
- All-purpose flour-1 cup/120 gm
- Curd-2 tbsp
- Green/mint chutney-2 tbsp
- Tomato/red chutney-2 tbsp
- Chopped green chili-2
- Onion-1 (chopped)
- Ginger-garlic paste-1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder-1/2 tbsp
- Red chili powder-1/2 tbsp
- Cumin-coriander powder-1/2 tbsp
- Oil-2 tbsp
- Coriander leaves (chopped)-2 tbsp
How to make delicious chicken Bao / Chicken Bao Recipe
Add 1 tbsp warm water and sugar in a big mixing bowl

Then add the yeast, mix it, and cover it for 5-6 minutes


Open the cover and see the yeast had been activated

Now add the all-purpose flour

Add curd and mix them gently as it is sticky now

Sprinkle little oil and cover it for 20 minutes



Open the cover and see it became double in size

Sprinkle some flour on a board and transfer the dough to the board and knead well and divide it into three equal parts and make big lemon size balls

Now with the help of your finger make them flat and make a circle of 3-4 inches in diameter


Now fold them gently (as they are very delicate), and put them on the parchment paper.


Take a momo steamer, heat the water in the base and gently put bao in the steamer and cover the lid and allow them to steam for8-10 minutes on medium-low flame

Meanwhile, prepare the chicken; Heat oil in a pan/kadai, then add the chopped onion and fry them for 2-3 minutes

Add chopped green chili, and ginger-garlic paste and sauté them for 2 minutes on high flame


Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, and red chili powder and stir them till the raw smell goes off


Add salt and cook for another 5-6 minutes and then take them out from the oven


Now the bao is cooked; so open the cover and check how soft they are


Now unfold the bao and spread the green and red chutney

Then put the chicken chunks with gravy
