How to Make Bele Macher Kalia? The procedure is the same to make Bele Macher Kalia as katla macher kalia or Rui Macher Kalia, but the thing is this fish is very delicate; so while cooking you have to take extra care. Ingredients

  • Bele fish/ Sand Goby fish-500 gm
  • Potato-1 (cut into 4 pieces)
  • 2 chopped tomatoes
  • Onions-2 (finely chopped)
  • Ginger-garlic paste-2 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds-1/2 tbsp
  • Red chili-2
  • roasted cumin powder-2 tbsp
  • turmeric powder-2 tbsp
  • red chili powder-1 tbsp
  • green chili-2
  • Some chopped coriander leaves
  • Oil-1/2 cup

How to Make Bele Macher Kalia

Clean and wash the Bele fish, Gently rub with turmeric powder and salt

Heat oil in a pan/ wok

Carefully drop the fish one by one, don’t try to accommodate all the fish at a time, which will mash it.

 Fry all fish in 2-3 stages, with both sides in high-medium flame. Fry fish until color changes to a golden brown. Transfer fried fish to a plate.

In the same pan, add cumin seeds and red chili for tempering

As they splutter and sizzle add potato and fry it for 2-3 minutes

Then add  chopped onion  and sauté it for 3-4 minutes

Add ginger-garlic paste and stir it until the raw smell goes off

Now add chopped tomato and stir fry for 2 minutes

Then add all the spices .e.g turmeric, cumin, red chili powder, and salt; mix it nicely and sauté for 3 minutes.

After 2-3 minutes pour water; mix it and cover the lid and allow it to cook for 10 minutes or to boil the potato

After boiling, open the lid. Add all fried fish. Mix it and allow it to cook for another 5 minutes on low-medium flame.

Take it off from the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves

Transfer it to a serving plate. Serve it with rice.
