Ingredients required:-

  • Masoor dal/ RED LENTILS – half cup
  • Raw papaya (cut in diced) half
  • spring onion
  • Green chilies-one
  • Turmeric-one tspoon
  • Salt
  • Cumin powder-one tspoon(roasted)
  • Mustard oil-half tspoon
  • Coriander leaves(for garnishing)

  • In a pressure cooker add masoor (red lentils)dal papaya, salt, spring onion, green chili & turmeric and cumin powder.How to make pepe diye masoor dal
  • Turn on the burner and put the pressure cooker and go for three whistles.
  • Wait to reduce the pressure.
  • Open the lid and check the consistency
  • The dal should not be too dry or runny. It should be medium thickness.
  • Add raw mustard oil and mix it.

  • Serve hot with rice or alu bhaja/potato fry.

Conclusion:Here I have not used cumin seeds or panchphoron for tempering, instead of I added raw mustard oil before serving.But you can temper this dal by panchphoron and red chili after opening the lid of pressure cooker.
