Ingredients

  • Chicken-1/2 kg
  • Ol/yam-300gm (cut into big cube pieces)
  • Tomato-01
  • Onion-02(medium size)
  • Garlic-1/2 cup (approx 30-35 cloves)
  • Ginger-1 inch
  • Lemon juice-1 tsp
  • Turmeric, cumin, coriander and red chili powder-1 tsp each
  • Garam masala powder-1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste

  • Wash and marinate the chicken pieces with card, ginger garlic paste, salt, turmeric powder and lemon juice and keep it aside for one hour.
  • Take a blender jar, add onion, ginger and garlic, make a smooth paste.
  • Take a hard bottom pan or kadai, heat oil and fry the ol/yam.
  • Add the marinated chicken pieces and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Now pour the paste in the chicken and keep on stir it for 5 minutes then add all the spices i.e. turmeric, cumin, coriander and red chili powder and cook for 5 minutes.how to make spicy ol chicken/Yum chicken
  • Pour water, add salt and cover the lid for 7-8 minutes.

  • Open the lid, check salt and consistency of the gravy, it should be too runny.
  • Switch off the flame, add garam masala.
  • Serve hot with  roti or rice.
