Mochar Dhokar Dalna / Banana Blossom and Lentil Fritters Curry Recipe is a mouth-watering recipe, Though preparation is a little tedious the outcome is worthy. In my earlier post ‘mochar ghonto’ and ‘dhokar dalna’, we tested and found how delectable they were. Now I am mixing both the dish and making this fabulous recipe.
The types of equipment required for this recipe
- Blender
- Pressure cooker
- Serving bowl/Plate
- Kadai/Fry pan
- Spatula
- Knife

The ingredients required for this recipe
For making the fritter
- Mocha or Banana Blossom – 2 cups (finely chopped)
- Overnight Soaked Cholar Dal or Bengal Gram – 1 cup
- Kalo Jeera or Nigella Seeds – ½ tsp
- Ginger – ½ inch
- Green chili-1
- Turmeric Powder – ¼ tbsp
- Hing or Asafetida – 1 pinch
- Roasted Cumin and Red Chilli Powder (Bhaja Masala) – ½ tsp
- Sugar – ½ tbsp
- Salt To taste
- Oil – ½ cup( including frying the fritters)
For making the curry
- Bay Leaf – 1
- Cinnamon-1/2 inch stick
- Cardamom-2
- star anise-1/2
- Black peppercorn-5
- Whole red chili-1
- Potato – 1 (medium diced shaped)
- Ginger Paste – 1 tbsp
- Yogurt-1/2 cup
- Bhaja masala – ½ tsp
- Coriander Powder – ½ tsp
- Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
- Red Chilli Powder – ½ tsp
- Garam Masala Powder – ½ tsp
- Ghee-1 tbsp
- Sugar – 1 tsp
- Salt – To taste
- Chopped coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
How to make Mochar Dhokar Dalna / Banana Blossom and Lentil Fritters Curry Recipe
Peel and cut the mocha into tiny pieces, and put them in a pressure cooker, add salt and water and go for one whistle on medium flame

Open the cover after releasing the pressure and keep it aside

Put the soaked Bengal gram in a blender jar along with ginger, green chili, salt, sugar, hing, and bhaja masala

Make a fine paste and keep it aside

Heat oil in a pan and kalo jire/nigella seeds for tempering, then add the boiled banana blossom and stir them for a minute

Add turmeric powder and stir them for 2 minutes

Now add the lentil paste mix them well, and continue to mix until they become tight


Immediate transfer them to a pre-greased plate, flatten them and with the help of a knife cut them into square or diamond shapes, and allow them to cool to become tight

Heat oil in the pan fry the potatoes, and keep them aside

Same way fry the dhoka, Once they become light brown in color, take them out from the oil and keep them aside

Add cinnamon, cardamom, peppercorn, bay leaf, star anise, and whole red chili for tempering

Now add the ginger paste and saute it for a minute

Add turmeric, coriander, and red chili powder, Add the bhaja and garam masala, and stir them till the raw smell goes off

Now add curd and stir them continuously for a minute

Add salt and sugar and mix well

Now add the fried potatoes

Cover the lid and allow them to cook for 6-7 minutes on medium flame

Open the lid add the fried dhoka and mix them well

Add ghee and chopped coriander leaves

Transfer them to a serving plate and serve hot with rice
