The ingredients required for this recipe are
- Snake gourd /Chichinga (big)-2
- Shallots cut in roundels or medium dice cut onion-½ cup
- Bengal gram dal-1 tbsp
- Green chili-5
- Curry leaves-2 sprigs
- Turmeric powder-½ tsp
- Red chili powder-½ tsp
- Coriander powder-½ tsp
- Grated coconut-1 cup
- Coconut oil-2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
- Salt, to taste
How to make Snake Gourd Thoran Recipe
Take a big mixing bowl; add snake gourd,
Then add grated coconuts and Shallot
Now add salt, curry leaves, coriander powder, red chili powder, and turmeric powder
Mix them nicely and keep them aside
Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds, Bengal gram dal, curry leaves and green chili for tempering
Once they started spluttering add the snake gourd mix, and saute them for a minute
Now cover the lid and allow them to cook for 4-5 minutes on a low flame
Open the cover and stir them for 2 minutes on a high flame
Turn off the flame and transfer them to a serving plate and serve hot with rice and sambar.
