
Ol Kopir Dalna / Salgam er Dalna / kohlrabi curry
Today I will share step by step how to make Ol Kopir Dalna / Salgam er Dalna / kohlrabi curry which a mild and delicious Bengali curry is made with ol kopi and potato. In Bengali, dalna means thick gravy made with seasonal vegetables.

- Pressure cooker
- Frying pan with lid
- Spatula
Ingredients
- Ol kopi/Kohlrabi-2 /400 gm
- Potato-4
- Tomato (chopped)-1
- Bay leaves-2
- Cumin seeds-1/2 tbsp
- Onion (chopped)-1
- Garlic-5-6 cloves
- Ginger-1/2 inch
- Turmeric powder-1 tbsp
- Red chili powder-1/2 tbsp
- Roasted cumin powder-1/2 tbsp
- Garam masala-1/2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil -2 tbsp
- Coriander leaves(chopped)-2 tbsp
How to make Ol Kopir Dalna / Salgam er Dalna / kohlrabi curry
- Clean and wash 4 potatoes and put them in a pressure cooker and go for one whistle

- Take 2 ol washed kopi and cut them into big pieces

- Put them in a pressure cooker and go for one whistle on medium flame

- Now open the lid of the pressure cooker and check the kohlrabi and potatoes, and then peel them

- Heat oil in a Kadai, and add the cumin seeds and bay leaves for tempering


- Add the boiled potatoes, and fry them for a minute

- Once fried, and then take it out from the oil

- Now add the boiled kohlrabi, fry them for a minute

- And take them out of the pan

- Add chopped onion and fry them till they become translucent

- Add ginger and garlic smashed in mortar and pestle and sauté them for a minute


- Add all the spices. i.e. turmeric powder, red chili powder, roasted cumin powder, and garam masala


- Sauté them nicely, till the raw smell of the spices goes off

- Add chopped tomato, and then add salt to melt the tomato fast


- Now add the boiled potatoes and kohlrabi and mix them with the gravy


- Add half a cup of water and mix them well


- Cover the lid and allow them to cook for 5-6 minutes on medium flame
- Open the lid and mix them once


- Then spread chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or paratha
