
Kolmi Shak Bhaja /Ung Choi/Water Spinach /stir fry with poppy seeds and peanuts

Kolmi Shak Bhaja Recipe is one of the daily summer lunch menus of Bengalis, as they start their lunch with shak or ‘teto’ means bitter taste like korola bhaja or neem begun. It’s a very simple recipe, but having enormous food value and is very delectable in taste. It goes well with hot piping rice and dal.
What is Kolmi Shak? Kolmi shak also known as Ung Choi/Water Spinach is a water plant it grows in wetland areas such as near swamp ponds or small lakes.
As per stylecraze, it has many health benefits, such as it helps to reduce cholesterol, treat liver problems and jaundice, treat anemia, it is also anti-diabetic, fight against cancer and increase immunity power

The types of equipment required for this recipe are
Small fry pan
Scissors
Strainer
Fry pan with lid
Spatula
Ingredients required are
Kolmi shak/water spinach; use fresh Kolmi shak for better result
Poppy seeds
Daler bori/sun-dried lentil dumpling; I used kalai/urad daler/red lentil bori
Peanuts
Other ingredients are Turmeric powder, garlic, green chili, onion, and salt
How to make Kolmi Shak Bhaja Recipe
Take a small fry pan add dry roast the poppy seeds and keep them aside

Heat oil in the same pan and add the bori and fry them until the color changes to light brown

Again add oil, to the same pan and fry the peanuts

Clean and wash the Kolmi shak, and cut them into tiny pieces with the help of a scissors

Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped garlic, and sauté them for 20 seconds

Then add the green chili, and chopped onion, and fry them for a minute

Now add the Kolmi shak, and add turmeric powder and salt; mix them

Cover the lid, and allow them to cook for 2-3 minutes on low flame with their own water

Open the cover, add peanuts and poppy seeds, and mix them well

Add fried bori, and turn off the flame

Transfer them to a serving plate and serve with hot piping rice and dal.
