How to Make Dahi Chicken

 Today we will learn step by step a very simple, palatable, and healthy dish How to make Doi chicken/ Dahi wala murgh. Dahi/curd makes the chicken tender, soft, juicy, and succulent; so some famous chicken recipes like Chicken tikka masala are used to marinate the chicken with curd or yogurt.  The chicken chunks are marinated with a lot of curds and other spices, then simmered in a thick gravy made with onions, garlic, and ginger and sometimes finished in a warm, spicy, cumin, flavored sauce this is How to Make Dahi Chicken.

Equipment needed

  1. Kadai or frying pan
  2. Spatula
  3. Mixing bowl

Ingredients

  1. Chicken-650 gm
  2. Curd/yogurt-300 gm
  3. Butter-2tbsp
  4. Onion-2 (Cut in slice)
  5. Ginger garlic paste-1 tbsp
  6. Whole spices(green cardamom-2, cloves-5, cinnamon stick-1/2 inch, bay leaf-1,  and peppercorns-    10)
  7. Red chili powder-1/2 tbsp
  8. Turmeric powder-1/2 tbsp
  9. Cumin-coriander powder-1/2 tbsp
  10. Kashmiri red chili powder-1 tbsp
  11. Peppercorn powder-1/2 tbsp
  12. lemon juice-1/2 tbsp
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Chopped Coriander leaves for garnishing

How to Make Dahi Chicken

Wash and clean the chicken chunks, and keep in a mixing bowl

Add curd, turmeric, cumin-coriander powder, lemon juice, red chili powder, Kashmiri red chili powder, and salt

Mix them well and keep it 1 hour for marinating

Heat 2 tbsp butter in a pan or Kadai

Add the whole spices and stir them for a minute

Add the sliced onions and sauté them till they become translucent.

Now add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté them till the raw smell goes off.

Place slowly the marinated chicken with marinatetion

Mix them with the onions

Now cover the lid and allow them to cook for 10-12 minutes in low-medium with their own water.

Open the cover and check the chicken chunks are boiled nicely.

Add some chopped coriander leaves

Transfer them to a serving bowl and serve with pulao, roti, or paratha.
