How To Make Muger Daler Halwa

Today we will learn step by step How To Make Muger Daler Halwa, which is a popular and delectable dessert recipe made with split green gram and sugar cooking with a dollop of ghee. It is one of the famous and popular delicacies from north-western India, particularly from Rajasthan. It is a very delicious dessert and easy to prepare.

Equipment needed

  1. Blender
  2. Frying pan
  3. Spatula

Ingredients

  1. Cashews-10
  2. Suji- 2 tbsp
  3. Sugar-1 cup
  4. Moong Dal/ split green gram-1 cup
  5. Cardamom-2
  6. Ghee1/2 cup
  7. Raisin-2 tbsp
  8. Milk-2 cups

How To Make Muger Daler Halwa

Heat ½ tbsp ghee in a small pan and add the cashews and fry in medium heat.

Take them out from the pan and keep them aside, when they become light brown in color.

In the same pan add the suji and fry them on low flame.

Take them out from the flame when they changed their color.

In a Kadai/frying pan add the moong dal/ split green gram.

Add 2 cardamom.

Dry roast them in medium heat.

Switch off the flame when they changed their color and a fine aroma of roasted moong dal starts coming out.

Let them cool, pour water and wash the moong dal.

Put them in a blender jar

Make a coarse paste and keep them aside.

Heat ghee in the same Kadai

Add the moong dal paste and sauté them for 2-3 minutes.

Pour two cups of milk and mix well.

Add raisins, and mix them.

Now add the roasted suji and stir them continuously.

Add sugar and keep on stirring them till they become a little thick in consistency.

Now it is a little bit hard to stir, which means it is cooked completely.
