Mocha Masoor Dal Recipe

Today I will share step-by-step, how to cook the Mocha Masoor Dal recipe, which is not only palatable but also very nutritious. The banana blossom/mocha is preventing prostate enlargement, supports bone health, and helps to lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels. And it is high in fiber which helps you to reduce your weight.

Equipment needs

  1. Pan/pressure cooker
  2. Kadai
  3. Blender
  4. Spatula
  5. Knife

Ingredients

  1. Oil-2 tbsp
  2. Ghee-1 tbsp
  3. Chopped banana blossom/mocha-1 cup
  4. Masoor dal/red lentils-1/2 cup
  5. Cumin seeds-1/2 tbsp
  6. Bay leaf-1
  7. Red chili-ginger paste-1 tbsp
  8. Turmeric powder-1 tbsp
  9. Cumin powder-1 tbsp
  10. Red chili powder-1/2 tbsp
  11. Garam masala powder-1/4 tbsp
  12. Onion (chopped)-1
  13. Tomato (chopped)-1
  14. Grated coconut-1/4th cup
  15. Chopped garlic-1 tbsp
  16. Green chili (chopped)-1
  17. Salt to taste

Cut mocha /Banana Blossom into small pieces

Let mocha boil for 10-12 minutes

Take ½ cup of red lentils and wash and let it boil for 10-12 minutes

Add salt.

Heat oil in a pan and add bay leaf and cumin for tempering

Take a plate and keep ready the grated onion, tomato, garlic, green chili, and coconut

Add chopped garlic, onion, and coconut and stir them for 2-3 minutes to change their color

Now add chopped tomato and sauté them

Add boiled mocha and mix them

Now add ginger-red chili paste and sauté them

Add cumin, red chili, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt and sauté them till the raw smell of the spices goes off.

Then add the boiled red lentils and give a mix

If the dal is much thick, then add 1 cup of water and cover the lid and allow them to cook for 2-3 minutes.

Open the cover add ghee and transfer them to a serving plate or bowl and serve hot with rice.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1 cup Choppedbanana blossom/mocha
  • 1/2 cup Masoordal/red lentils
  • 1/2 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tbsp ginger-red chili paste
  • 1 tbsp  turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 tbsp Garam masala
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tomato (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp garlic chopped
  • 1 green chilichopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh coconut chopped
  • salt

Instructions
 

  • Cut mocha /Banana Blossom into small pieces
  • Let mocha boil for 10-12 minutes
  • Take ½ cup of red lentils and wash and let it boil for 10-12 minutes
  • Add salt.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add bay leaf and cumin for tempering
  • Take a plate and keep ready the grated onion, tomato, garlic, green chili,and coconut
  • Add chopped garlic, onion, and coconut and stir them for 2-3 minutes to change their color
  • Now add chopped tomato and sauté them
  • Add boiled mocha and mix them
  • Now add ginger-red chili paste and sauté them
  • Add cumin, red chili, turmeric powder, garam masala and salt and sauté themtill the raw smell of the spices goes off.
  • Then add the boiled red lentils and give a mix
  • If the dal is much thick, then add 1 cup of water and cover the lid andallow them to cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Open the cover, add ghee and transfer them to a serving plate or bowl and serve hot with rice.
