How to Make Delicious Handi chicken / Chicken Handi in Clay Pot

Today I will share a very ancient recipe: How to Make Delicious Handi chicken / Chicken Handi in Clay Pot. It is having tremendous health benefits to cooking in a clay pot. It is effortless and simple, no need to cook all the time; just put all the ingredients, seal the pot, and open it after one hour, and also you will get the health benefits.

Equipment used

  • Handi/clay pot
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 500 gms. chicken
  • Onions, sliced-4
  • Potatoes-6 (baby potatoes)
  • Tomato-2
  • Ginger – garlic paste-1tbsp
  • Salt
  • Turmeric powder -1 tbsp. 
  • Red chili powder – 1 tbsp. 
  • Coriander-cumin powder-1 tbsp. 
  • Garam masala powder-1 tbsp. 
  • Bay leaves-4
  • Green cardamoms-2
  • Big cardamom-1
  • Cinnamon-1/2 inch stick
  • Cloves-4-5
  • Curd-1 cup 
  • Green chilies, slit-3
  • Mustard oil-1/2 cup 
  • For dum wheat flour dough

How to Make Delicious Handi chicken / Chicken Handi in Clay Pot

Clean and wash 500 gm of chicken and put it in a mixing bowl

Add turmeric powder, garam masala, cumin-coriander powder, and red chili powder

Now add the curd

Add ginger garlic and green chili paste

Mix them well and marinate for 2 hours

Take a clay pot, clean and wash it, then put 6 baby potatoes

Now add the chopped onions, and then add the marinated chicken and tomatoes

Now add the whole spices i.e. cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves

Add bay leaves and mustard oil

Seal the pot nicely with the flour dough and put the clay pot in the oven and allow it to cook for 45 minutes on low flame

Now turn off the flame after 45 minutes and break the seal of the pot and take them out from the clay pot

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti

Ingredients
  

  • 500 gm Chicken
  • 4 Onion
  • 6 Baby Potato
  • 2 tomato
  • 1  ginger-garlic paste
  • salt
  • 1 tbsp  turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin- coriander powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Garam masala
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 3 Cardamom
  • 1/2 cinamom stick
  • 5 Cloves
  • 1 cup curd
  • 3 green chili
  • 1/2 cup Mustard oil
  • 2 tbsp Chopped coriander leaves
  • For dum wheat flour dough

Instructions
 

  • Clean and wash 500 gm chicken andput in a mixing bowl
  • Add turmeric powder, garam masala,cumin-coriander powder and red chili powder
  • Now add the curd
  • Add ginger garlic and green chilipaste
  • Mix them well and marinate for 2hours
  • Take a clay pot, clean and washit, then put 6 baby potatoes
  • Now add the chopped onions, andthen add the marinated chicken and tomatoes
  • Now add the whole spices i.e.cinnamon, cardamom and cloves
  • Add bay leaves and mustard oil
  • Seal the pot nicely with the flourdough and put the clay pot in the oven and allow it to cook for 45 minutes inlow flame
  • Turn off the flame after 45minutes and break the seal of the pot and take them out from the clay pot
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti
